MySafeCampus® Offers Media Assistance in Wake of Virginia Tech Tragedy
(Littleton, Colorado) April 17, 2007 All of us at Business Controls, Inc. offer our deepest sympathy for those who were affected by the tragic events at Virginia Tech University. Words cannot express the sorrow that must be being felt by the families and friends of those who lost their lives.
In lieu of this event we would like to offer media assistance by availing our expertise in speaking about not only this event but violence on campus in general.
Business Controls’ MySafeCampus® (www.mysafecampus.com) is an anonymous incident reporting system used by colleges and universities throughout the country to detect issues that concern faculty, staff, and students. The University of Houston, the Claremont Colleges, and the University of Northern Colorado are just a few colleges that have put this system in place.
MySafeCampus® has been one the main sponsors and organizers of the national annual conference, Violence Goes to College. This conference’s audience includes law enforcement, judicial affairs, human resources, counseling, residence life, risk managers, and substance abuse prevention specialists from colleges and universities from across the country. Violence Goes to College offers options to prepare for instances before they happen and to explore innovative ways to prevent them from occurring in the first place.
The two representatives from Business Controls, Inc. available to speak are Steven Foster, President, and Kimberly Pfaff, Director, Operations and Behavioral Sciences
