Business Controls was founded in 1994 by Eugene Ferraro, a nationally recognized expert in
corporate and institutional investigations, and author of eight books on workplace investigations. The
company began as a professional investigations firm specializing in the discovery and prevention of
theft, dishonesty and substance abuse in the workplace.

In 1998, the company established a subsidiary, Convercent, Inc., which developed the anonymous
incident reporting and hotline services, MySafeWorkplace® and MySafeCampus™. Since its
inception, the MySafe™ family of products have remained on the cutting edge of incident reporting
tools, providing the most efficient and user-friendly systems on the market.

As Convercent grew, so did Business Controls, expanding to include behavioral science, research
and education departments, complementing the company’s core investigations business with threat
assessments, IT forensics and compliance seminars and training.

In 2006, Business Controls integrated Convercent’s services to offer clients a complete risk
management solution. From the discovery of a problem to its resolution and beyond, Business
Controls’ customized services and expert staff set the standard for a safe workplace environment and
