Psychology and Behavioral Sciences

Recognizing that your workforce is the most complicated asset of your organization, BCI's Behavioral Sciences Department specializes in helping you with a range of human resources needs.

Like pieces in a puzzle, each person you employ adds to the larger picture of your organization. With a team of highly-trained consultants, and up-to-date industry knowledge, we will help you make sure each member of your organization is a good fit.

The Behavioral Sciences Department specializes in Forensic Psychology, which is the merging of psychology and law. Our qualified staff brings a mental health perspective to these unique issues and extensive knowledge of research and industry trends. We have experience with federal and state prisons, trial consulting, substance abuse treatment, police psychology, threat and risk management, and the psychological functioning of the criminal mind.

BCI's Behavioral Sciences Department specializes in three main areas of service:

Pre-Employment Screening - Successful companies recognize the need to evaluate a potential hire beyond the interview process. Failure to conduct pre-employment screenings can expose your company to liability and affect your bottom line. BCI can make hiring recommendations for you based on background verifications, investigative work, face-to-face interviews and personality assessment. The Behavioral Sciences Department can conduct pre- and post-employment screenings and promotional evaluations, as well.

Fitness for Duty Evaluations - If your employees engage in inappropriate behavior at work, a fitness-for-duty evaluation may be the most appropriate next step. This evaluation can provide reliable information about an employee's suitability for return to your work environment. These evaluations help you make the right decisions about the safety and stability of your workforce through personality assessment, clinical interviews, psychological testing and analysis.

Threat and Risk Assessment - Workplace violence and threatening behavior is on the rise. Consulting with a company like BCI is the best decision you can make when faced with employees who have exhibited inappropriate, volatile, or aggressive behavior. BCI will help you manage this risk and make recommendations regarding a person's level of threat through personality and psychological evaluations, analysis of prior patterns of behavior, face-to-face interviews and analysis of collateral data.

Our Process

BCI's Behavioral Sciences team uses a five phase, standardized process for each consulting project to ensure the highest possible return on investment. Because each project is unique, a team effort is encouraged throughout all phases to ensure we meet the unique objectives of our clients.

  1. Preparation and planning
  2. Information gathering, typically involving face-to-face interviews
  3. Verification and analysis
  4. Summary of findings and intervention
  5. Prevention and education.
